Legend has it that Saint Offset became an economist only because he lacked the charisma to become an actuary.

A capricious and vengeful saint, he grants each forecaster one and only one perfectly accurate prediction. This illusion of brilliance gives them confidence they need to keep forecasting. Every prediction thereafter? Off by varying degrees for reasons they can never fully explain.

His followers have tried everything to win his favor from burnt offerings to generous donations. Human sacrifices were briefly considered but never used as it was not clear who should be sacrificed and whether there would be lasting improvement in forecast accuracy.

Forecasting is not for the faint of heart. Saint Offset remains impassive and implacable.

1. Nothing grows to the sky.
2. Two “wrongs” can make a “right” but it is not always the same two “wrongs”.
3. The trend is your friend until it bends.
4. Thou shalt not forecast the forecast.
5. Nothing is impossible for the person who doesn’t have to do it.
